Sport Aviation, October 2007
Thanks for AirVenture
Congratulations on a very successful
AirVenture '07! Patricia and I were unable to attend. However, AirVenture '07
holds a very happy occasion for us. As you know I was in search of a reinstated
medical after a kidney transplant. I want to thank you for your direction to
your staff member Susan Sedlachek. She responded very quickly, giving me the
correct words and methodology to "turn the crank", as it were, with the FAA.
Back to AirVenture. At Susan's
recommendation, I contacted a Pilot Advocate Program aviation medical
examiner in my area, Dr. Philip Coussens. We met, gathered the needed
information regarding my status, and condition. Dr. Coussens went to
AirVenture, met with Dr. Silberman (manager of FAA's Aerospace Medical
Division), and submitted my case information. They discussed my case at
their annual meeting. Due to this meeting at the aviation gathering of the year,
the result is outstanding! I am in possession of a shiny new medical, allowing
me to defy gravity, and go to the Reno Air Races to defend my Sport Class
national title. Tom, thank you and your wonderful organization for holding watch
on this great organization of EAA, and an outstanding event. AirVenture '07 will
be known to us as one of the best ever! Thank you for digging in to stand up for
the aviation enthusiasts worldwide! Thank you and your staff!
