Flooding, 2005

While we average only 7 inches of rain per year, sometimes is tends to come all at once. Sustained heavy rain overwhelms the desert soil's ability to absorb, and the result is "sheet flooding" These January 2005 pictures are a good illustration, even though taken as the water was receeding.
